Best ATP performances ever

vamos [Edit] [Delete] 12:57, 6 September '11

Seeing The Magic band thread reminded me of how good they were at ATP. So a question; what were your favourite ATP performances ever?

I've had loads: Shellac, Oxes, Breeders, Dave Lovering, Mission of burma in 2002; Aphex Twin, El-P + Murs & Public Enemy at Autechre; More or less all of the 2 Directors Cuts (Sonic Youth, mclusky, LCD Soundsystem, Dizzee Rascal, Arab Strap, Le Tigre, ESG, Part Chimp, Arcwelder; Blood Brothers, Mudhoney at United Sounds of ATP; Pissed Jeans & Shellac at NBXmas; The Fall, The Drones, The Walkmen, Wildbirds & Peacedrums at Pavement

I'm pretty sure I saw Mogwai, Blonde Redhead and various other folks being pretty awesome at them too. And went to about 2 more than this.

ANYHOW: Top 3:

1. Lightning Bolt at Directors Cut

They started playing during the final song of Sonic Youth's set. Rumours had been going around how awesome these guys were and they fucking nailed it. Probably the most rock n roll moment of my life, stood 2 foot away from a drummer throwing up into a mask. Best 45 minutes ever.

2. PJ being ace followed by Company Flow being ace followed by Portishead being utterly ace at IBYMirror this year

This was just such an awesome triple whammy. I know it's cheating, but PJ blew me away from about 10 foot from stage centre. Then Company Flow were utterly brilliant, and everything a reformation should be. Followed by Portishead playing the perfect set and ending the day just so. I enjoyed that final 4 hours of the day so, so much and saw a lot of heroes.

3. Liars at United Sounds of ATP

They were just so on it at this point in their career. You got most of Drums not dead and the highlights from the records either side of it. In that little downstairs room at Camber too. A totally awesome night.
