Using Laptops Live...

swanny [Edit] [Delete] 19:13, 6 September '11

(I really hope this is posted in the right place)

I'm in a band (a duo) and we've been practicing and gigging using a laptop. When I say using a laptop I don't mean using programs such as Ableton Live, I mean simply playing prerecorded bass and rhythm tracks off it. We've been recently considering scraping some money together and making our set-up fully live i.e. no laptops, but we are wondering is it worth it?

So, are any of you put off by bands that use laptops on stage? Would you be more impressed by a band that has a full live set-up at the expense of some mistakes to one that uses a laptop? Or do you think it doesn't really matter as long as it sounds good?

Would love to hear what you think!
