I'm going through a bit of an ambient music stage at the moment. But most of the artists and albums that I'm listening to are fairly recent. In articles and reviews I keep seeing Brian Eno flagged as an influence and I'm aware that he's the godfather of ambient music. So I thought it's about time I had a listen.

This morning I've listened to Here Come The Warm Jets which is great. I knew it wasn't going to be ambient, but thought I would start from the beginning. It's almost like a mixture between Roxy Music and Kevin Ayers.

Should I continue working my way through chronologically? Or would this be silly seeing as he's released about 40+ albums. Where next and what are the more ambient highlights?

(I'm sure this has been done before, but I did a search and couldn't find anything.)
