So then looking back, albums you thought would be in your 'best of 2011' list but probably won't be now.

Violator [Edit] [Delete] 02:10, 29 October '11

Not because they're utter crap necessarily but simply because they just didn't turn out to be anywhere near as good as you expected them to be.

I'm going to be controversial as I hope others will be too:

Zola Jesus - 'Conatus'
M83 - 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming'
Washed Out - 'Within & Without'
Neon Indian - Era Extrana'
Ladytron - 'Gravity The Seducer'

Most of these are good or at least ok (with the exception of Ladytron which remains really disappointing).

While we're at it, when people look at their lists now as we approach the end of the year, how many of the albums on there are albums you expected to be and how many are totally unexpected and unforeseen?

I've had a look at mine and I'd say the list I have is almost entirely made up of artists I hadn't even heard of last December. That's a good thing I guess.
