SINGING ADAMS?
Formerly the singer/guitarist/songwriter from The Broken Family Band, Steven Adams called time on that outfit a while back now to form a new band kicking out super-catchy choruses, great harmonies and showcasing his trademark lyrical incision. Melinda Bronstein (Absentee, Wet Paint), Matthew Ashton (The Leaf Library, Saloon) and Michael Wood (Michaelmas) bring a wealth of influences to the band, which comes off like a cross between Spoon, Syd Barrett and a Phil Spector compilation. But more fun. After star turns at End Of The Road festival and the main stage at Green Man they released their debut album Everybody Friends Now last through Records Records Records, with Uncut magazine describing it as a “terrific debut”.
“What makes the album is Adams's thoughtful songwriting… he can be splendidly acerbic, too... Adams needn't worry: his glory days are far from over.” (The Guardian)

LAURA J MARTIN
We would say that Laura J Martin is a pretty unique young artist. It is a grand statement, we agree, but certainly we’ve yet to come across another flute wielding, piano playing, mandolin toting singer-songwriter. Not only does she compose and play all the parts of her music, but also produces the songs too – she is indeed a one-lady-band for the 21st century. She is haunted by, and slightly obsessed with; Lalo Schifrin, Japanese folklore, Jethro Tull and Woodie Guthrire, and counts Madlib, Neil Young, Devendra Banhart, Wu Tang Clan and David Bowie among her influences. Her music displays an ingenuity and passion for appealing, yet intricate composition, encompassing aspects of traditional folk with a more up to date electronic twist. All in evidence, when she takes to the stage armed with trusty flute, mandolin, microphone, a loop station and no small amount of talent! Her eagerly anticipated debut album ‘The Hangman Tree’ is released on Static Caravan in January.
"Laura J Martin is one of the freshest dudes out there... musically gifted, addictive and sodding brave please make sure you buy her records and most importantly see her live!” (Rob Da Bank, BBC Radio One)

THE WEREWANDAS
Comprised of members of The Fat Tulips, The Cut-Outs, The Phantom Pregnancies, Action Time and Airport Girl, The Werewandas are a five-piece combo of Fujiyama mamas and papas who gleefully massacre rock’n’roll standards as well as their own original Western Bop confections, wishing they were Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps and ending up as a lo-fi, garage-pop Everly Sisters. Predictably, The Werewandas also love Wanda Jackson.
“A rockabilly rumble with an indiepop breeziness, as if the fringes on faces are now attached to buckskin jackets… el primitivo stripped down and sparky rock’n’roll.” (SoundsXP)
