Question about boring audio bullshit

yuggy [Edit] [Delete] 17:56, 3 April '12

Hi, time for a fucking boring question.

Computer speakers, monitor speakers, amps and passive, whatever you use, irrelevant. However to get the best sound no doubt it has to come from line level rather than a headphone socket. For ages (forever) I've been listening to music from my laptops headphone socket plugged into a mini denon hifi. The sound, to me at least is fucking superb as the speakers are ace and the amp seems to never produce hum etc.

However its a bit weak through ipod and I know that is easily remedied via an ipod dock but i'm too lazy to get one as I rarely use the ipod via speakers. Is there a similar device to make a laptop output 'line level'? like a small USB sound card, does that do it? or should i just ignore audiophiles, shut up and carry on.

All my music, except vinyl is played through my laptop at home pretty much and it's never been a problem till I started reading audiophile stuff.
