Having a problem with my turntable, need some help / advice

hanshotfirst [Edit] [Delete] 11:27, 11 April '12

Hi Everyone,

Problem has occurred recently when playing records on my turntable. It's skipping really badly, but only on the last song of any side of any LP, so basically when the stylus is closest to the middle of the disc.

Have given the records a thorough clean so there's no dust or anything like that getting in the way of the stylus. Also removed the cartridge and made sure its not all clogged up.

Also tried the old 'put a coin on the arm to weigh it down trick' this sometimes solves the problem but it weighs the stylus down so much that you can actually hear it grinding against the vinyl which I don't think will be doing the record or the cartridge any favours.

Anyone have this happen to them before? Anyone have a work around? Adjustment to the arm maybe? Or is it a lost cause and I should look at replacing... really hope not : (

Cheers!
