Soundsystem /// Roots & Culture Appreciation Thread

thekidswhopoptoday [Edit] [Delete] 20:22, 29 April '12

- who goes to sound clashes?
- who's got a favourite soundsystem?
- what was the last dance you went to?
- who puts on the best dances in the UK?

I was inside for Jah Tubbys meeting Jah Lokko at Teachings In Dub in Bristol on friday (April 27th).
saw amazing scenes; real concsious slections, positive atmosphere and an extra heavy sound from both sides. I think Lokko just scraped it...they had a more rootical sound as opposed to the slightly overloaded set from Tubby's. plus, Lokko have been a local Bristol sound for many a year now, it was wonderful to see them in a such a high standard dancehall...they easily showed their worth.

looking forward to the next Teachings dance on June 15th: Kibir La Amlak Soundsystem vs Negus Melody Soundsystem - another heavy Bristol clash

also, on June 22nd University of Dub at Scala will host Channel One, Blackboard Jungle and Aba Shanti-I for a heavy session. must get to both of these.
