"migrating licences"

alcxxk [Edit] [Delete] 01:17, 26 September '05
a friend is trying to send me music (dead kennedys, since you ask) via msn (well, Windows Messager actually). He successfully transferred a file, only for windows media player (it was a wma) to tell me to migrate licences etc.
Unfortunately, when i clicked to download, i was told i didnt have the software to download.
Now, you see, I'm on Uni computers, which let me download things, but not install them. So p2p is out of the question, and migrating the licences just wont work. I'm also planning on transferring the file to my iRiver, so even if i get the licence for the computer, i'll probably face the same troubles again.
our current plan of action is to re-rip the cd and send it again.
Anyone have a clue about how to solve these things?
