Music Social More…

I was 17 in 2005

untrue [Edit] [Delete] 20:52, 27 June '12

Really nostalgic for that year. Remember my mate sending me Arctic Monkeys demos on MSN Messenger and describing them as the 'next Libertines' but I barely knew who The Libertines even were. Was genuinely unheard of (to my ears) hearing a singer sing unashamedly in the accent that he talks in, especially one that broad, so I was like heheh fucking hell. That's new. Everyone downloaded those demos. When The Sun Goes Down used to be called Scummy.mp3 and I remember in Fake Tales of San Francisco he used to sing that the band 'weren't very good' instead of 'fucking wank'. I know it was only seven years ago but it feels like a completely different era.

Was dead exciting lad honestly. Used to go this indie/northern soul club on Fridays and all the best people from college would be there (girls I fancied) cos the bouncers were lenient with their ID checking. Got really pissed on pints of Snakebite every Friday. Everyone was into all those guitar bands that got big at the time. Seemed like we were all listening to the same music. It felt like a thing. Was it a thing? Or does it just feel like that to me because I was 17 and wide eyed?
