OH NO - what happens when you start going to fewer gigs and your interest in new music stalls?

beautiful_balloon [Edit] [Delete] 00:17, 28 June '12

I'm 26 and I'm going to fewer gigs and listening to less new music than ever - is this a widespread trend or am I turning into my Dad?

I've gone from knowing every band on festival line-ups to only knowing the bigger names that have been around a while - indeed I've started to fall back on my Talking Heads, The Smiths, Gang of Four, Beatles, The Cure, XTC records like an old man waiting to be shovelled into the ground. For the first time since I was 13 and only liked wrestling music and Afroman I'd struggle to make a top 10 albums of the year, simply because I've not heard enough

However, all is not lost as I've got 8 (EIGHT) weeks off over the Summer to dust myself off and get back into it - this thread is just to share experiences of being too busy to be into music etc

I do sometimes wonder how on earth people on here get the time to get into and have an appraisal of seemingly 50+ albums per year!
