Talk to me about modern DJing.

automatik [Edit] [Delete] 14:31, 16 July '12

I used to DJ a bit. Had a regular Friday + Saturday night gig DJing at a student pub in Fallowfield for a while, ended up 'spinning' some 'tunes' at various venues.

Now, when I say 'DJing' what I mean is that I blagged myself the gig, turned up with my laptop pretending to know where all the wires went, and then basically played songs through iTunes for six hours.

I'd like to pick this up again, but to do it properly. It's too late and I'm too poor to start a vinyl collection, so we're looking mp3 / CDR here. What I'd like from you lot is advice and consumer recommendations concerning the kind of equipment that's available to the budding young 21st century disc jockey.
