When I was in high school early 80s, David Bowie was a serious weirdo. Even to me, but goddamn how I loved him! Tame, perhaps, by today's standards, but I can assure you that I put up with a lot of shit.

One high school teacher, I recall, asked everybody in the class to announce his or her favorite band. Half the class demurred. One girl bravely muttered her fav, then secretly sipped on a wine bottle as she was apt to do. I wanted to hug her so bad!!
