Streaming Spotify through a stereo amp

bornin69 [Edit] [Delete] 13:16, 5 November '12

I have the Spotify iPad app which is great, but to play it through my stereo I have to wire it in using an adaptor that goes from the 30pin connector to the RCA input on the amp. This works fine but is a bit of a faff.

I want to connect an Apple Airport Express to the amp and then stream wirelessly from the iPad to that and play thought the amp.

Does anyone else do this?

The guy in the Apple shop says you can only do it if the Spotify app supports AirPlay. As there is no mention of AirPlay in the App Store or within the Spotify app itself he concluded that it doesn't and that this wouldn't work. The Spotify website, however, does suggest that the app supports AirPlay. Elsewhere on the web various sites seem to suggest that you need extra (expensive) software to make Spotify communicate with an Airport Express.

I'm completely lost and don't want to spend money on something that's not going to work. Can anyone help?
