Is an ambient/modern composition/drone rolling thread a goer?

wonton [Edit] [Delete] 21:53, 10 January '13

Asking before starting one for a few reasons: Firstly, they seem to be quite popular right now, so perhaps too many would create a backlash. But then I think there is such a wealth of this kind of music that isn't often covered in music publications, it could potentially be valuable.

Secondly, more importantly, what genres of music should be included in order to have a wide range, but specific enough for things to be manageable. So I was thinking ambient, anything loosely labelled modern composition/classical (with a side ordering of any minimalism), and some of the prettier drone (SOTL-like). Any additions/subtractions.

I am constantly looking for music of this kind, year-round, so I at least would try to update it regularly (though I don't profess any expertise). And lastly: http://acloserlisten.com/2012/12/24/acl-2012-the-top-20-albums-of-the-year/ Sums up this kind of music perfectly
