'The New Life' LP by Girls Names is quite a decent album.

To be honest, when I read reviews with words like 'goth', '1980s', 'post-punk' and so on, I'm never expecting to be that taken by what I hear anymore. That's partly because I've heard so much music which could be described using this kind of language that very little stands out. It's my own fault - this is sort of music I'm always going to be whore for I guess.

However, this appears to be a particularly understated and unassuming little gem of an album and I hope it doesn't pass under the radar. They've really nailed the sound here - it doesn't sound like paint by numbers Joy Division that most of us could be forgiven for expecting.

I'm interested to hear what other people think.
