Perfect support bands

sean [Edit] [Delete] 16:14, 22 July '13

Just seen that Metric have been confirmed to support Paramore on their massive arena tour of america. Seems perfect to me. Should open up a whole generation of emo kids to a band who take influence from Sonic Youth rather than Green Day, and come complete with another strong role model. It got me thinking how weird it was that Cut Copy turned down the Lady Gaga tour last time around, although perhaps her fans would be less likely to pay attention to the support band and pick up their records to balance out what it might have cost them? Thought Radiohead taking Caribou out on the road made a lot sense.

Got me thinking, who's the most perfect support you've seen?
And, if you could pick a band deserving of a wider audience, to support a massive act who would you choose? i.e. Nicolas Jaar to support Bjork would be a dream. Health & Deftones supporting Nine Inch Nails would be a tour I'd follow around Europe, gleefully bankrupting myself in the process.

...feel free to share some examples of the worst support combinations, if you so wish.
