Monitor for use with GarageBand

Elviscalling [Edit] [Delete] 02:02, 24 December '13

hey all
so I'm trying to set up a simple home studio (very simple, just my laptop, mics, cheap audio equipment, etc) in order to record some of my own songs. now, the question: when using programs like GarageBand or Audacity, is it necessarily better to have a wider monitor? I was actually thinking of purchasing an ultra wide (video of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrSfPdih93U) monitor (of course, i'll also use this computer to play video games :P), but would it be worth it to have all that extra real estate? Or would just using two cheapers monitors be sufficient?

thanks in advance!
