Records you love because of DiS

Oh look, another thread to encourage you to list albums, but this one has a bit of a twist. I was curious which albums you've gotten into because of the editorial or conversation on these boards. Perhaps it was a classic you'd never heard before or a recent record you didn't pay much attention to first time around.

For me, somewhat ironically, it's The National's Boxer. I had heard it a couple of times and it didn't click at all. For some reason I had lumped them in with Band of Horses and various other beardie Pitchfork-approved flannel-wearing men who loved Neil Young but weren't half as good as My Morning Jacket. I love me some epic miserable stuff, but they weren't Interpol. And then the threads on here kept banging on about Boxer, so I downloaded it to my iPod, stuck some headphones and went for a walk... Oh boy.

p.s. we're having a whip-round and would appreciate your support http://drownedinsound.com/news/4147618-the-dis-whip-round--please-donate-today
