DiS Users June 2016 Album Of The Month

BMS1 [Edit] [Delete] 11:13, 23 June '16

Vote for your favourite album and also your second and third choices. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I'll take the first three mentioned as 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.

Your album of the month will get three points, 2nd placed album two points and 3rd placed album one point. If you name only one album I'll give that three points. If you name two albums I'll score them with three and two points accordingly.

A very good month for me with album releases. I liked the Case/Lang/Veirs' album. Maybe I'm harsh but I was expecting much more although it's very good nonetheless. The Ladyhawke album was a fun big pop album. It was greeted with universal apathy from reviewers but I enjoyed listening to it on the few sunny days that we've had in June. Her gig was good too. Big Deal's album was very good also. No where near to the quality of June Gloom which was one of my top 5 albums of 2013 but it was a strong enough third album by them. Oh, Let's Eat Grandma's album is good on the first two listens, but yeah crap band name.
My top three:

1. Cat's Eyes - Treasure House
2. Mitski - Puberty 2
3. Tegan and Sara - Love You To Death

The Cat's Eyes album starts where their debut and their Duke Of Burgundy soundtrack left off. A brilliant album, maybe one of my top 3 of the year. Their Lexington gig was excellent too. Their video for Drag was totally not what I was expecting after listening to it on headphones for a while. Worth a watch. Quite vicious and violent.

I'd never heard of Mitski before the reviews. A mix of EMA meets Nina Nastasia. I can see myself listening to this for months. A great album.

The usual big tunes from Tegan and Sara. Looking forward to their gig later tonight.

Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I'll keep this thread open until Sunday 3rd July and so you'll have over a week to listen to tomorrow's releases before choosing.

Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please.
