Places you are reluctant to go to in order to see a gig

Towns/cities or just venues.

You know the sort of thing. Band announces a tour and then you see where they are playing and go "oh no, not there..."

For me it's Carlisle.

It's a short drive over the border from me and they occasionally have decent bands playing, but the punters are an absolute nightmare. It's like they are confused by bright lights and amplified music and revert to some sub-human form.

I remember seeing the Manic Street Preachers playing there and the crowd being completely bemused if there was anything played from the first three albums. I'm sure most of the crowd only owned "Everything Must Go" and fully expected to only hear songs from it being played .

Also saw Ash on their A to Z tour (C = Carlisle) get pelted with glow sticks. Now I'm fully aware that some of you may have actually paid good money to see that, but it was actually really depressing to see. I was standing there thinking "Here's a band that have made the effort to come to your little shit-end town and this is how they are treated".

So where else is viewed as a necessary evil??
