Acoustic versions of songs

homesick_alien [Edit] [Delete] 22:07, 12 March '06

What's the opinion on them? And I mean bands doing their own songs, rather than covers.

I've always thought these were kind of rubbish because they generaly strip out everything that made the original track interesting and replace it all with a boring one-man-and-a-guitar dealio.

plus bands seem to automatically go for the 'slow and emotive' route rather than making it more upbeat or something. It is possible...

BUT, having said all that, i've only just discovered the acoustic version of 'The Walk' by The Cure, and it's actually BRILLIANT. Every single element in the orignal track is accounted for, and it has XYLOPHONES(!!!!!!) where synths should be. :D

So erm, yeh, discuss...
