How much of a distance do you want to feel between those musicians/artists whose work you enjoy and yourself?

If you meet someone, do you want them to be aloof but polite?
engaging and chatty (but clearly for a predetermined amount of time)?
buy you a drink and talk for hours just like a normal person?

Do you read artists blogs to find out what they're up to or what their opinions are?
Do you really give a shit about reading interviews with bands?

Do you, in short, feel that a greater personal connection between you and them enhances the music, or brings it back down to earth too much? (assuming they don't just make a cock of themselves)
