The Exception Proves The Rule

oceanRain [Edit] [Delete] 12:42, 17 May '06

We can be disgustingly politically correct sometimes, gang. Actually, more *you* than me, but... ;-)

For instance, I'll say, "oh (such and such) genre is like having a nice bite of tin foil." And you'll become rather indignant, suddenly your Manchester accent turns Royal snooty. "How can you not appreciate the subtle nuances of the accordian, oR?".... Yes, yes bluegrass is terrific *ahem* I love dueling banjos, too!

Hell, after 3 or 4 margaritas - it's bring on the Mariachi music - and I'm loving the accordian as well. "La Cucaracha, La Cucaracha!"

But that's not really fun. No. Mo' better I make an obnoxious blanket statement like:

Heavy Heavy Death Speed Metal Is Moronic!

C'mon. Now, this is where you closet metal heads in indie drag say, "Oh but have you heard System of a Down...or Slipknot...or Tool... or...." Yeah, Tool fer crying out loud! Can't get away from otherwise respectable critics writing how wonderful the new Tool album is. And all I wanna say is, "Yeah, alright but you're wrong because it's, erm, it's Tool and Tool suck. Duh!"

(And for my next politically incorrect thread I'll tell you all how much I'm dreading this Red Hot Chili Peppers double album of shit. The radio is gonna be contaminated with those buffoons for the next 2 or 3 years, mark my words!)

Yes, OK. I do like Appetite For Destruction but I'm not really talking about Guns 'N Roses hard rock here. Heck, I really dig on Icarus Line and such. I'm talking about the speed metal - da-da-da-da da-da-da-da - played at 285 bpm with the Texas Chain Saw Massacre-ist dude on vocals. Name me a worth while band here (even if it's one I've already slammed) and tell your DiS comrades what you like about it. I'm beyond convincing, but perhaps you can corrupt one of my younger brethren here. That might be fun, who knows?
