Mission of Burma - The Obliterati

Engels [Edit] [Delete] 16:14, 4 June '06

Having witnessed MoB at ATP I bought the new record 'The Obliterati'. For a bunch of aging 50 year olds, they make the sort of melodic brutal racket most 20 somethings could only dream of making. Fuck me this record is good. The opening gambit - '2wice' - could be one of the best openers of a record ever. The brutality of the drums kicks your teeth in from the get go. 'Donna Sumeria' has a falsetto breakdown in the middle and Roger Miller lifts some lyrics from 'I feel love' by Donna Summer! Even though their politics are still rooted in the 80's, it's delivered with good humour. See 'Nancy Reagan's Head'.

Anyone else digging this record? Lovers of noisy punk a la Fugazi/Sonic Youth etc. should investigate. Hopefully DiS will be reviewing it soon?
