Great unsigned Bands around the UK
For those of you who've been following my constant hail of self-publicity on these very boards, you'll know that General Khaki [www.generalkhaki.com] have been roaming around the nation, treading the boards at dives and toilets the length and breadth of the country.
Well, I just wanted to take a moment to plug some OTHER people instead, some of the fantastic bands we've played with....
From LIVERPOOL...28 Costumes http://www.twentyeightcostumes.fsnet.co.uk/main_frames.htm Bouncy, angular and inventive pop, think Buzzcocks, Coral, Who...we're playing with them at their own night, Fake Death Experience www.fakedeath.fsnet.co.uk 5th June at Heebie Jeebies
Also from ver Pool are The Mighty Saguaro...http://www.themightysaguaro.com/ They've now split up, but you can download tunes from their site...abrasive shout-rock in a Fugazi vein, but with a hard-riffing edge that'd do Sabbath or Queens proud.
Originally from the Midlands, but now in London, I believe, are Victims of Noise http://www.victimsofnoise.com/ I can't remember much about these, except that I was rolling around drunk on the floor. Heavy riff-rock, with a manic edge, I just about recall.
From ST ALBANS. Section 17. www.section17.co.uk A shit name for a great band. They've got a brash skate-punk edge, with, once again, those deep low-end riffs powering some throat-shredding vocals. We're hoping to visit St Albans to play with them some more...
From LEICESTERSHIRE: Among the missing www.amongthemissing.com. Another band rocking out in a 'gazi/Drive-in vein, but with a darker Joy-Div/Birthday Party edge to it and mixing samples in with screwed up guitar mangling...Sean you should check these boys out, you'd love 'em and they'd make a fine addition to the DiS label roster.
