home recording advice needed

dan_thw [Edit] [Delete] 01:05, 5 July '06

I'm a bit of a tecnophobe but if one of you kind souls could give me a bit of advice on getting a mulit-track recording thing for my computer that would be great. One of my mates said i'd need a card to stick in the back of my computer and then a recording program - and I'd be able to be naughty and copy this off someone perhaps?

So any thoughts on what equipment I could get that would give the best results on a low(ish) budget?

I wouldn't necessarily be wanting professional level sound or anything, just something I could put guitar, bass, drums and vocals down so I remember ideas.

Also my computer is an intel celeron, 2.80ghz, 512MB ram, windows xp...

Cheers!
