anyone else get the feeling music is about to take a downturn?

just got this funny feeling the quantity of quality music has been increasing for a few years and is about to burst. theres a few bands out at the mo that seem to be a bit more radio friendly than 6 months ago and i see the cycle like this:

-bands get fed up with boybands, start making good music
-bands start getting underground following
-bands start getting more success airplay
-other bands copy this style cos people like it, but more radio friendly version
-record companies like this, and find more radio friendly bands
-record companys form their own bands that sound like they want
-record companies go back to boybands
-bands get fed up with boybands, start making good music etc etc

quite obvious i know, but i'm worried. when people start bringing out shit 2nd albums i'll cry.

somebody please prove me wrong. please!
