haha (fugazi)

I was just watching the Fugazi videos on youtube.com and saw this comment which made me laugh :

"Awesome recording!! I wish Fugazi would just sell out man, I mean wouldn't it be great to just buy a Fugazi shirt at wal-mart or something. then again maybe not."

But after considering it for a second, I do actually think Fugazi take things a step too far - surely they could have made their own shirts and stuff, I mean they did do that thing where they released a load of self recorded bootlegs on their site, so they arent completely against stuff like this.

I guess the talking point I want to raise is, do people think they would have been significantly better known / supported by the public if they were on a major label or had a promotion team etc? I'm not convinced myself - I think they have that certain charm as probably the biggest underground band of all time that would be lost otherwise, and there would be a lot of people who wouldnt listen to them if they had signed to a major, regardless of quality of output.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm talking about and could have made my point a lot better. Thoughts?
