In the more negative reviews I've read of his solo album, the major criticism seems to be that he's out of his depth making an electronica album. One review even had a "hilarious" skit with Aphex Twin putting Thom in his place.

As for me, I know fuck all about electronica and couldn't possibly judge the album on those merits. Fact is I've had it on repeat all day though and in my opinion the songs are generally excellent. I enjoy it for the reason I enjoy the Postal Service - I love the melody and lyrics.

Question is, would I be likely to feel differently about the album if I knew a lot about eletronica?
