which guitar?

horrorbiz [Edit] [Delete] 14:55, 21 September '08

k so...

it's my birthday coming up and i'm pretty definitely sure i'd like a new guitar (my old ones ok but it looks rubbish and i'm superficial). I only have like, £300 to spend because i blew alot on amps and stuff. I like SG's. No reason, just do. So i'm looking on gak and i have the choice of...

an epiphone g400 for £169 or an ESP vb200 for £269 (reduced i think).

reasons being that i first had my eye on the ESP because it was the only affordable baritone i could find (except for another les paul on gak that had a giant red circle on it and looked fucking stupid). I like bands like cursed and old man gloom, plus i break strings like sweat, so i figured this could be a good option.

HOWEVER

my main reason for wanting a new guitar is because i figure doing the band thing before i dive into the 9-5 lifestyle would be a good idea to keep me creative so i don't kill myself. now, my birthday is in november and i still don't have a band. I'm not dead set on baritone tunings and stuff, and what if i get a band and end up playing in standard?

so yeah, if you have any knowledge, is the VB200 worth the risk? or should i play it safe with the epiphone (which looks cooler anyway)?

thanks.
