Experienced Drummer Looking For Shoegaze / Dance / Electronica Band

LittleDrummerBoy [Edit] [Delete] 15:23, 16 September '10

Hi there,

I am a drummer with 14 years experience who is looking for a new project to get my teeth into and really make a go of.

After being in several bands over the years I have had fun but never really found something that I have really loved and cherished. I am now looking for something quite specific. What I am after ideally is a dance / electronica band with some shoegaze leanings. I love big sounds and noise, something like the wall of sound both Mogwai and My Bloody Valentine create in abundance. However, I am also a massive fan of dance and electronica acts that combine loops, laptops and samples alongside live instrumentation. Something similar to the artists that I have listed below. I am also a huge fan of leftfield hip hop – Stones Throw (Madlib, Dilla, PB Wolf), Anticon (Themselves, Why?, Baths) and Brainfeeder (Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, Nosaj Thing), Ninja Tune and of course, MoWax.

I want to make music that people can dance to that also has some emotional pull, depth and melody.

I have a great deal of experience both playing live and recording and am also click friendly too. I have played in 3 main bands recently, the last being a band called Eat Lights;Become Lights whom I was with for nearly 2.5 years. They are a noise/krautrock band, quite heavy psychedelic kind of sound. Before that I was with an indie/pop band called Regis Low and another called The Second Line - a bit like Secret Machines / early Verve and Spiritualized.

I have played the London circuit for a good number of years and played some prestigious venues including The Barfly and Islington Academy as well as the usual places such as The Hope & Anchor, The Windmill, Buffalo Bar etc….

I am used to practicing twice a week and have 2, 7” single releases to my name with Eat Lights released on Enraptured Records. Although I work full time, I am ready to commit to the right project and put the necessary effort in. I have my own kit but no transport unfortunately although willing to travel.

In terms of further bands / artists that I like, please see below: -

UNKLE
LCD Soundsystem
Hot Chip
The Juan McClean
DJ Shadow
My Bloody Valentine
Ride
Spiritualized
Spacemen 3
Holy F*ck
F*ck Buttons
Beak
Portishead
Amusement Parks On Fire
Four Tet
Errors
Sigur Ros
Mogwai
A Place To Bury Strangers
James Blake
James Holden / Nathan Fake
Daft Punk
The Avalanches
Soulwax / 2ManyDJs
Underworld
The Field
Tortoise
M83

Many more to list, but that is just a few.

If this sounds appealing to any bands or musicians out there then please get in touch. However, PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU ARE JUST LOOKING FOR A DRUMMER AND DO NOT HAVE ANY INTEREST IN THE ABOVE!

Cheers
