Generation X, Generation Y, and Generation XY

TheWza [Edit] [Delete] 16:38, 31 January '10

I don't identify with Generation X and I don't identify with Generation Y.

The Wikipedia article on the Late 70s/early 80s born Generation XY/MTV Generation has been deleted and merged into Generation Y. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:MTV_Generation

GTFO! I say. GenY is too young GenX is too old.

There's definitely a Generation XY. We had some computers at secondary school, unlike most of Generation X. But we didn't have the internet in every classroom, like much of Generation Y. Generation X are mostly a bunch of selfish old tossers, whereas Generation Y are broadly a different breed entirely but who clearly see the world through different eyes to me.

So, yeah. Who stole my Gen?

I suspect many DiSers are XY, too as many of the older DiSers are a bit young-thinking for their age, and many of the younger DiSers have a more mature outlook than many of their peers.

.

*the americans often call it the MTV Generation which is somewhat misleading to UK/Euro peeps cos we didn't get MTV until a while after the US - the phrase was featured on The Simpsons in 1992, with Bart and Lisa referring to themselves as such, describing the MTV Generation as ones that "feel neither highs nor lows". When Homer asks what it's like, Lisa replies "meh."
