An important question regarding books and my exam

chris_is_cool [Edit] [Delete] 16:41, 23 April '10

Basically for a literary critiscism exam I am relating theories to literature. Among 5 theories is Marxism. We can choose any text we want to relate the theory to. The question for Marxism is 'discuss the marxist concept of ideology and its role in literature and illustrate your answer with at least one literary example' - not too sure if I'm going to do this one, because the other option is 'How might you use the concept of alienation to read a literary text from a marxist perspective. Illustrate your argument with at least one literary example'

Now I originally thought the second question could be good. I could talk about the antagonism between man and his country in Atonement and the disruption of love etc etc as Alienation is all about the separation of things that are in harmony with each other. This could work right? I'm thinking as I type really, but there's another part of me that says surely there's a better text!?!?

Oh and I can use as many texts as I want over the 5 questions too!
