Brilliantly batshit mental. Totally uneven, with ridiculous shifts in tone, pace and style. It captures the essence of a man peaking and troughing on drugs better than Gilliam did in Fear and Loathing, and Nicolas Cage (unsurprisingly) knows how to ham up a cokehead just perfectly. I laughed at it, and with it, in places I’m not sure I should have done, which seems just so appropriate.
