Is this a silly thing to say? (another-voting-thread-centric)

Stiive [Edit] [Delete] 13:15, 6 May '10

A friend has said (on Facebook, of course) that you don't have to vote if you've made a conscious decision to do so and it's not out of ignorance or laziness. Fair point.

Another friend has commented saying "oh thank God someone's said that, I'm tired of everyone's statuses saying you HAVE to vote. Do they not realise not voting is a vote too?" Now, it's the last sentence that's got on my tits a bit. Let's assume a majority of those eligible to vote choose not to - surely this means that they have chosen none of the candidates for PM to be suitable and, because it is a majority of the eligible population, that means that no one gets in to power...

This is a bit of a facepalm, isn't it? Or am I being a little dense?
