when someone pulls out of a lunch-date less than 90 minutes beforehand claiming they're ill

acoleuthic [Edit] [Delete] 13:24, 31 May '10

suspicions REALLY raised by the fact I immediately went on Facebook and sent her a chat-message of 'aw ah well, get better soon, no point meeting up if you're ill plus it's not a nice day' sorta tone

...and she went offline about half a minute later without replying

hasn't responded to my subsequent, equally bonhomie-laden, text

the issue here is possibly that when I met her it was as part of a double-act? some guy and I basically charmed her at the cricket for a good 45 minutes the other day, and she later added me on FB whereupon I suggested lunch on the chat thing and she assented, having held a reasonably full-on conversation

thing is the other dude, a friend of mine, while he has a gf already is somewhat more of an instant charmer than I and it is only fair to guess that I'm viewed as a second-tier option, hence expendable given the slightest opportunity

cynical me wants to say this is what happens when you try to bat above your station. girl is absolutely, unbelievably stunning, and knows it too. but then there's no such thing as one's 'league' so w/e

her call now, suspect it'll be the dialtone
