If someone is ill and are throwing up they should not be preparing and cooking food right?

I've just tried to explain this to my family as my sister is preparing dinner and ran out half way through to throw up. She came back and washed her hands and I said I'd carry on cooking, because you can't cook if you're ill, because it's so easy for it to all spread. I've seen it loads before.

They're idiots right?
