what does everyone think about the lockerbie bomber thing?

Senate are having an enquiry.

But there's hardly any doubt about that aspect - whether BP discussed it with the UK government or else that Tony Blair struck a deal with Gadafi. What I'm interested in is why the Scottish government chose to have any part in this when Westminster and Holyrood were at an alltime low in friendly relations.

Kenny McAskill is nobody, so any orders put to him must have been through Alex Salmond and his fellow marine biologist Nicola Sturgeon (who got married today congratulations). If they are seriously standing by their story that it was purely on compassionate grounds that Magrahi was released after McAskill VISITED HIM IN PRISON (wtf) then surely they just run the risk of looking wholly thick. By this logic should EVERY "murderer," (let alone those who killed 259 people) be released to die? There's also now no doubt that the medical "advice" they were acting on was extremely dodgy and chosen selectively to suit this outcome.

Not forgetting also that the conviction of Magrahi (tried at the Hague under Scots law) has a lot of questions surrounding it and I have my own doubts that it was even a safe conviction.

Really baffled by this whole thing. Looks really dodgy, maybe involving all parties.

I also really don't get how compassionate release can be allowed to be political in the first place.

Thoughts, please?
