I want to get a mountain bike for proper exercising, like.

Want to start small (5-10 miles) and build up to proper massive rides. Would like to get something fairly lightweight but also durable. Doesn't need to be super mega professional, just decent.

Any suggestions? Don't ask for my budget because I've no idea how much a nice-ish bike costs.
