Hard reads

Lucien [Edit] [Delete] 14:25, 6 August '10

I picked up To The Lighthouse on my lunchbreak a few weeks ago because I was waiting for a couple of books to arrive and foolishly thought ‘200 pages? That’ll fill in a couple of days till they arrive’. Anyway, here we are two weeks later (the other books long since arrived and unopened) and it feels like that scene in the Shawshank Redemption when he finally reaches freedom and tears off his shirt and feels the rain on his face.

Is there a harder book of that length to read? I mean, I enjoyed it and the writing is extremely intricate in places, but if your mind wanders just a little you suddenly have to go back and read the whole page again.

Other books that need a bit of shoulder to get through??
