Following on from yesterday's lovely thread, and the fact that the search function on this site is some grade a bullshit, I thought I'd rack the collective brain of DiS for thoughts on places to stay on my super holiday to the mid atlantic.

New York seems really expensive or horrendous, so recommendations please. i don't mind having my eyes out if someone says it's actually a nice place.

I know absolute zero about Philly other than cheesesteaks, Rocky and Will Smith being raised and getting into shenanigans on the west side.
