WEDNESDAY / THURSDAY GAMING THREAD

vamos [Edit] [Delete] 12:59, 25 August '10

Yeah, I know, it's Wednesday. But I'm bored.

I haven't played much at all as I have tennis elbow, and it gets infinitely more painful whenever I pick up a Wiimote. Meaning I'm STILL only 90 stars into Mario Galaxy 2. For what it's worth though, I think it's a very good game, but not as great as everyone is making out. Maybe there are twists to come, and the Yoshi levels are great. But too many of the levels seem a bit linear. I miss the feeling of Mario 64 of rotating the camera around and thinking 'how the hell am I going to get up there then?'

Here is some news:

Portal 2 is getting lots of coverage. Rightly so. Stephen merchant is in it too.

First review scores are in for Metroid Prime: Other M, being 8s and 9s thus far. All read a bit like 'Could be better' homework reports from the snippets I've read, mainly to do with the view changing implementation. I guess we'll see. I love my console - and don't have time to bother with the more expansive games that PS3 or Xbox360 offer alas - but it'd be nice to see one, 'hardcore' (whatever that means anyway, and it'd appear to mean 'lots of guns' to most fans) game score 10/10 on the Wii without Mario in it just to shut up all the doubters.

Talking of which, Goldeneye remake is getting similar previews. Some adore it, some say there's a reason why things like this should be left in the past.

Mafia 2 is out. As is Kane & Lynch 2. Neither seem to be setting the world alight coverage wise, particularly the latter.

And I liked this article about game length and how much people actually bother playing:

I'm old skool and always get as close to the end as my skillz allow. How about you there?

Yes YOU.

Hi!
