Have you ever hosted a dinner party? Have you ever even been to one? And by dinner party, I don't mean a few mates round watching TV with a takeaway - I mean the full middle-class rigmarole, nibbles, three courses, wine, maybe cheese, easy listening on the stero. Perhaps some sort of board game.

I think I'm getting to the age now where my friends are settling into their own flats rather than shared houses, and are starting to get tastes above that of crappy pizza. It can't be long before we'll be having proper dinner parties. I'm not sure whether this is a good or bad thing.
