Monkeys used for Commonwealth Games security (media reporting satire as fact centric?)

s_p_g [Edit] [Delete] 13:30, 30 September '10

So, a lot of news sources are reporting this as fact:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/commonwealthgames/8029682/Trained-monkeys-guard-athletes-at-Commonwealth-Games.html

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-11433539

http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/delhi-deploys-super-monkey-security-guards-for-commonwealth-games-092810

Yet, it's also reported on the Weekly World News, a satire website that's also reporting the Earth is running out of air and Jimmy Carter is pregnant:
http://weeklyworldnews.com/sports/22932/commonwealth-games-to-use-langurs-as-security/

Is this another example of journalists being lazy fucks and not checking their sources ?
