"Mr Osborne said he expected the public to accept that it was not fair to tax someone earning £18,000 a year to pay child benefit to someone earning £50,000."

Some questions
Does this mean that a family with 2 earners pulling in £40k a year each (ie £80k combined) get to keep their child benefit?

Does this mean that George Osborne has grasped the principle that the rich should be more highly taxed than the poor?

How many votes do you reckon this would have cost the Conservatives if it had been a campaign promise?
