reading books about the universe and stuff

justanothersheeldz [Edit] [Delete] 15:06, 4 October '10

I am currently reading The Grand Theory, the latest book by Stephen Hawking. It's really good. However, I was wondering if people can't read it because of how scary it begins to sound? Basically, he supposes that Quantum Theory proposes that the beginning of the universe is like the south pole - when you are the south pole, nothing is south of it and everything is north in every direction. it's a singularity of dimension. that is how time started, in the fourth dimension. also, M-thoery suggests that the 11 dimensions are really there, but the invisible seven that we don't see are curled up like straws so small we can't perceive them.

And that's not even getting into the Feynman diagrams of alternative histories of particles. the fact that at a quantum level particles chose ALL routes, simulatenously until we perceive it at a point is insane... the scariest point he made was that hundreds of millions of years ago a light particle might travel from on place to the next towards our eyes but it's not until we see the particle that the route it has taken to get their is decided, meaning our present perception of the event has changed the history of that particle...

zero replies, i guess.
