We keep being told about how urgently we need to reduce the deficit and that we're in an unprecedented economic arse-ache so we need to make lots and lots of CUTS, but...

Why hasn't bumping up taxes even been floated as an idea? Income tax rates are ludicrously low compared to other countries and compared even to how they were in this country a few years ago. Are tax increases even being considered? Even someone with the most rudimentary knowledge of SimCity or similar knows that if you need dosh quickly then you just tweak your taxes a bit.

Has the political climate really reached a point where tax increases are pretty much the kiss of death? IT'S POLITICAL INCORRECTNESS GONE MAD.
