DiS football post-match thread

marckee [Edit] [Delete] 09:27, 1 November '10

Reds 4 - 2 Blues

Scorers:
Reds - Ben (x2), Kenako (or was it Louie?), Bamos
Blues – Hedges, JuxtaposedJames (o.g.)

Good game this. On paper, the blues may have been the better team, but no one ever won a football match on a piece of paper. Some excellent front play from Ben, ably assisted by the running of Ken, Adam and Jake behind him, meant that the Blues were never able to feel secure, even though they took the lead twice and spent a lot of time with the ball in our half (mainly due to the fact that I can’t kick the ball beyond the halfway line these days, and Jim managed to get his head on all of my kicks). Our back four were excellent, and Jack put in a series of excellent stints in the Makelele role. There were only a few occasions when they broke through into the area, and although the Blues did hit the woodwork three times, it’s noticeable that they all came from shots from distance.

MotM was probably Ben, who took his goals with ‘aplomb,’ as I think commentators like to say, and was probably difference between the two sides.
