My girlfriend got made redundant yesterday and was devastated, especially as she'd only been in her job six months. When she phoned to tell me I was so choked I felt like I was the one who'd been laid off.

She didn't really like the job (she was working for a PR firm after three years working for an advertising company and the swap wasn't really what she'd expected) and was looking for something else - but not getting to choose when and how she left is a bit upsetting.

We live together so are now budgeting to live on just my wage (which is enough to cover all the rent and bills and food). A bit like the Flanders in that episode of the Simpsons - it'll have to be an imaginary Christmas this year.

Anyone else on here been through this?
